Service Description

Designed for multi-pitch climbers ready to level up their emergency and rescue skills, Vertical Medicine combines a 16-hour Wilderness First Aid course with 8 hours of improvised rock rescue training. This hands-on, scenario-based course goes beyond the classroom and onto the wall. Participants will practice assessing and treating injured climbers, managing emergencies in exposed terrain, making evacuation decisions, assisting an injured partner, and solving rescue problems using the equipment they already carry. Topics include wilderness patient assessment, trauma and medical emergencies, environmental illness, bleeding control, spinal injury considerations, improvised care, partner rescue systems, and decision-making when professional help may be hours away. Successful participants receive: MTN Wilderness First Aid certification WFR recertification for eligible current WFRs OSHA-recognized First Aid/CPR/AED certification California EMSA Epi Auto-Injector certification 16 hours of continuing education for eligible EMS professionals via Capital City CPR LLC (34-4980) Practical improvised rock rescue training Expect realistic climbing emergencies, hands-on rescue practice, and on-the-wall scenarios built to make you a more capable, confident, and dependable climbing partner. 24 hours total: 16-hour WFA + 8-hour Improvised Rock Rescue No prerequisites.
