Apply to teach MTN wilderness medicine courses through your training business in the United States. We review your medical credentials, patient-care experience, and teaching record, support course delivery, and document the courses you are approved to teach.
New lead instructors, including WFA leads, need current W-EMT and CPR/BLS qualifications, documented patient-care and teaching experience, and individual MTN review. Outdoor education, guiding, and field work are preferred.
Some existing WFR instructors may be grandfathered in for WFA only after review of credentials, résumé, practical skills, and observed teaching, with final MTN approval. This does not authorize WFR or WFR recertification instruction. WFR assistants work under an approved lead. Every instructor has a documented, individual teaching scope.

Orientation covers the MTN curriculum, lesson plans, scenarios, assessments, and course administration. Applicants then demonstrate teaching and practical coaching and complete a reviewed first course before individual authorization.

Butte County Search & Rescue brings experience in wilderness operations, search management, technical rescue, and emergency response. MTN supports its team through training.
The public calendar brings together MTN courses and approved network instructors’ offerings. You can also arrange custom training for groups of 8 or more.

Partner fees: $500 onboarding with year one included; $300/year beginning October 2027. Student packets: $50 WFA / $80 WFR. Applying is free; approval and an agreement come before payment.
