Mountain Training Network (MTN) issues an independent Adult First Aid, CPR & AED credential documenting successful instructor-led training and evaluation, including live, observed hands-on skills verification. It is issued as a separate certificate alongside MTN Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) pathways.

What the credential confirms
First aid: Adult first-aid training. The first-aid portion applies to adults.
CPR, AED & choking: Training and evaluation for adults, children, and infants. “All ages” refers to these resuscitation and choking-response skills.
Practical learning: Instructor-led instruction and evaluation with live, observed hands-on skills verification. An online quiz alone does not establish completion of this credential.
Issuer: Mountain Training Network, a division of Capital City CPR LLC. MTN is responsible for this independent course-completion and skills-verification credential.

The credential identifies the scientific guidance underlying its content:

Adult first aid: 2024 American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid.

CPR/AED: 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.
Guideline alignment describes the basis of the curriculum. The certificate is issued by MTN; it is not an AHA or American Red Cross course card or a claim of endorsement by those organizations.

How it fits workplace requirements
MTN designed the curriculum to meet OSHA workplace first-aid training needs, using current clinical guidance and practical skills training. Employers should evaluate the credential against the standard, worksite hazards, and any contract or licensing rules that apply to the position.
General industry: OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151(b) requires adequately trained first-aid personnel when an infirmary, clinic, or hospital is not in near proximity. The provision does not name a required training brand.
Construction: OSHA 29 CFR 1926.50(c) allows equivalent first-aid training that can be verified by documentary evidence, alongside the providers named in that rule.
Hands-on training matters: OSHA’s August 2, 2012 interpretation states that online-only training does not meet the first-aid and CPR training standards addressed in that letter because physical skills require practice.
OSHA does not issue this certificate or endorse MTN. A training certificate is one part of an employer’s first-aid program; acceptance depends on applicable requirements. Some industries, state plans, licensing bodies, and employers have additional or provider-specific requirements.

Separate from WFA and WFR
The Adult First Aid, CPR & AED certificate gives employers a clear record of those specific competencies. The accompanying WFA or WFR certificate documents the wilderness-medicine course. Review each credential’s title, scope, completion date, and expiration separately.
Completion and required skills must be demonstrated for the credential awarded. Attendance in a wilderness course alone is not sufficient evidence that every associated certification requirement has been met.
Validity and scope
Validity: Two years from the course-completion date shown on the certificate. Check the printed expiration date. Employers may require refresher training or skills checks more frequently.
Pediatric first aid: This credential does not include pediatric first aid and is not a California EMSA pediatric first-aid credential. Adult, child, and infant CPR coverage should not be confused with pediatric first-aid approval.
Other requirements: If a position requires a particular provider’s card, healthcare-provider BLS, or another named qualification, confirm that requirement separately. This certificate documents training and skills verification; it does not grant a medical license.
Verify a certificate with MTN
Check the holder’s name, course title, instructor, completion date, expiration date, and credential ID. For confirmation, contact MTN with those details or a copy of the certificate. Include the employer’s specific training requirement when asking about suitability.
