MTN Field Guide is an offline-first wilderness medicine reference, training support, and documentation application provided by Mountain Training Network, a registered d.b.a. of Capital City CPR LLC ("MTN," "we," "our," or "us").

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores, what information may be transmitted to MTN, how information is used, and the choices available to users.

Summary

MTN Field Guide is designed to function without requiring a user account.

Users may continue without signing in and access field references, educational content, assessment tools, and other resources directly from their device.

If a user creates an account, limited registration information may be stored locally on the device and may be synchronized with MTN for account administration, support, product updates, and optional communications.

Passwords are not transmitted to MTN.

Patient Care Reports (PCRs), SOAP notes, attached photos, and other documentation created within the app are not uploaded to MTN by default.

MTN does not sell personal information.

MTN does not use third-party advertising networks.

MTN does not engage in cross-app behavioral advertising or tracking.

 

Information Stored On Your Device

The app may store the following information locally on your device:

 

Application Data

  • Field guide content

  • Clinical practice guidelines

  • User settings and preferences

  • Downloaded reference materials

 

Account Information

If an account is created:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Course interest

  • Training role

  • Optional organization or team affiliation

  • Newsletter preferences

  • Account identifier

  • App version

  • Account creation date

  • Last login date

  • Password hash metadata

Passwords are stored locally as salted cryptographic hashes.

Passwords are never transmitted to MTN.

 

Documentation Created By The User

The app may store documentation created by the user, including:

  • Patient Care Reports (PCRs)

  • SOAP notes

  • Incident reports

  • Assessment findings

  • Vital signs

  • Treatments

  • Medication records

  • Disposition information

  • Handoff notes

  • Photos

  • Voice notes

  • Location details

  • Other information entered by the user

This information remains stored on the device unless the user chooses to export, share, archive, copy, synchronize, or otherwise transmit it.

 

Information Sent To MTN

If account registration synchronization is enabled and the user creates or synchronizes an account, MTN may receive:

  • Account identifier

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Course interest

  • Training role

  • Optional organization or team affiliation

  • Newsletter or marketing preferences

  • Application name and version

  • Account creation date

  • Last login date

Registration information may be transmitted using Google Apps Script services connected to MTN administrative systems.

MTN uses this information for:

  • Account administration

  • Technical support

  • Product updates

Email Communications

Users may choose to receive educational updates, course announcements, newsletters, and product information from MTN.

Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect essential account or service-related communications.

 

Patient Care Reports And Health Information

MTN Field Guide includes tools that may be used to document incidents, patient encounters, training scenarios, or educational exercises.

Documentation created within the app is intended to remain on the user's device unless the user independently chooses to export or share that information.

The local PCR archive may be protected through app authentication features; however:

MTN Field Guide is not intended to function as:

  • An Electronic Health Record (EHR)

  • An Electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) platform

  • A HIPAA-compliant health information system

  • A medical records management platform

Users are solely responsible for complying with:

  • Patient confidentiality requirements

  • Organizational policies

  • Medical direction

  • Documentation requirements

  • Privacy laws

  • Data retention requirements

  • Applicable regulations

Do not enter real patient information unless authorized to do so and unless your organization has approved the device, workflow, retention practices, security controls, and privacy safeguards being used.

 

Location, Camera, Photos, And Microphone

The app may request device permissions when the user chooses to access specific features.

 

Location Services

Location information may be used to capture:

  • GPS coordinates

  • Altitude

  • Accuracy estimates

  • Heading

  • Speed

  • Incident locations

MTN Field Guide does not continuously track, monitor, or collect user location information.

Location information is only accessed when the user actively chooses to use location-enabled features.

Location information remains on the device unless the user exports, shares, archives, or otherwise transmits documentation containing location data.

 

Camera And Photo Library

The camera and photo library may be accessed when the user chooses to attach images to documentation.

 

Microphone

The microphone may be accessed when the user chooses to record voice notes or documentation-related audio.

 

Third-Party Services

MTN Field Guide may utilize third-party services including:

 

Google Services

  • Google Apps Script

  • Google Sheets

  • Google Workspace services

  • Google email services

These services may be used for:

  • Registration processing

  • Administrative workflows

  • Product support

  • User communications

 

Platform Providers

The app may rely on:

  • Apple App Store

  • TestFlight

  • iOS operating system services

  • Android operating system services

  • Device-level security and privacy controls

Apple, Google, and other platform providers may independently collect diagnostic, crash, performance, or device information according to their own privacy policies.

MTN does not control the privacy practices of these providers.

MTN Field Guide:

Local Data

Data stored locally remains on the device until:
